Mom and Dad
I learned at a very young age to respect animals and never cause them suffering. Almost all the pets we had growing up were rescued either from bad situations or they were strays. My parents never put it this way but I came to believe that any animal that came into your care was “a sacred trust.”
Top left, my mother is raising a baby robin that fell out of the nest. Top right, in the center is a duck my father rescued from being frozen into the middle of a pond. At the bottom, I am showing my parents a litter of lab pups that I was fostering. Both my parents are gone now, but what they taught me lives on.
